Drive Your Business Forward on the Road to Reno
Preparing early can set your business up for success at Marketplace
“We are made wise not by the recollection of our past, but by the responsibility for our future.”
—George Bernard Shaw
As we get ready for the Road to Reno (Marketplace 2026!), I’ve been asking myself—and now I’m asking you—are we preparing for the future, or are we just relying on the comfort of the past? I’ll admit it: I love a good recollection. It’s easier. Familiar. Sometimes even comforting. But as Benjamin Franklin reminded us, “If you do not drive your business, your business will drive you.” And that’s not how I intend to enter 2026.
Why I Stopped Reusing Old Profile Sheets
If you were at Marketplace in 2019, you may remember some of the quotes I used back then. Yes, this is me recollecting—but it’s also me learning. Wisdom doesn’t wear out, but some things definitely do. My lovable teddy bear, for example. And, as I found out recently, my profile sheet.
I initially tried to pull out the old one, dust it off, and call it good. Danielle took one look and shut that down immediately. She and Alicia walked me through the updated guidelines, joined the webinars, and helped me rethink the entire document. What we ended up with was something sharper, clearer, and much more reflective of where we are today. It truly “sparkles and shines.”
If you haven’t touched your profile sheet since 2019, it’s time. I learned firsthand that relying on an old version is the easiest way to fall behind before Marketplace even begins. Franklin said it best: “Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.” I don’t plan to fail—and I don’t want you to either.
Your Appointments Are an Investment. Treat Them Like One.
Even the best profile sheet won’t mean much if you don’t take care of your appointments. All appointment requests are due December 2, and schedules go live December 12. When that schedule hits, I’m blocking out the time and guarding it like any critical business commitment. You should, too.
Marketplace is one of the most valuable opportunities we have to build relationships, deepen partnerships, and strengthen our business footprint. Every appointment is a chance to grow. Protect those moments. Show up ready. Do the work now so the work pays off later.
This Road Leads to Opportunity—If You Prepare for It
The Road to Reno isn’t just a theme—it’s a reminder. We’re responsible for our own success. So let’s take that responsibility seriously.
Update your materials. Do the research. Prepare your team. Set your appointments. Step into Marketplace 2026 as someone who chose to drive their future, not drift into it.
I’m doing the same. And I can’t wait to see all of us win in Reno.
