Steven Coyle, ABA’s new Director of Government Relations – Transportation Policy

The American Bus Association (ABA) welcomes Steven Coyle, who joins the Association as Director of Government Relations – Transportation Policy, completing a major buildout of ABA’s advocacy team and further reinforcing the Association’s voice in Washington on behalf of the bus and group travel industry.

In this role, Coyle will lead ABA’s transportation and safety policy portfolio, advancing the association’s core advocacy priorities on Capitol Hill and across federal agencies. His work will focus on ensuring the voice of bus operators is heard in federal policymaking, shaping practical regulatory outcomes, supporting safety and mobility, and advancing policies that strengthen the industry’s long-term growth, workforce, and economic impact.

Coyle brings significant Capitol Hill and lobbying experience to ABA. Most recently, he served as Federal Affairs Director at the American Clean Power Association, where he built bipartisan support for complex policy initiatives, led large-scale advocacy campaigns, and helped secure key legislative wins in high-stakes debates. He also previously served as a Legislative Assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives, advising on transportation, infrastructure, and regulatory issues and helping advance provisions that were ultimately enacted into federal law.

“I’m excited to join ABA and help strengthen the industry’s voice in Washington. Fred, Callie, Lew, and the team have a great sense of how to navigate policy and politics, and I’m looking forward to building on that by working closely with our members to bring practical, real-world solutions into ABA’s policymaking process,” says Coyle. “This is a critical industry that helps people connect, travel, and experience new places, and I’m proud to support the operators who make that possible.”

“Steven understands how to navigate both Capitol Hill and the complexities of federal policy, and just as importantly, how to connect that work back to the needs of an industry,” says Callie Hoyt, ABA Senior Vice President of Public Affairs and Government Relations. “His experience and strategic approach will be instrumental as we continue to advance ABA’s advocacy priorities, elevate the voice of bus operators, and deliver results for our members.”

Coyle’s addition underscores ABA’s continued investment in building one of the most robust advocacy operations in the travel and transportation space. He joins a growing team led by Hoyt, who oversees ABA’s advocacy strategy and government affairs efforts, and Lew Myers, who leads the association’s travel and tourism policy portfolio.

Together, this team represents a coordinated, high-impact approach to advocacy—engaging Congress, federal agencies, and key stakeholders to advance policies that support safety, mobility, workforce development, and economic growth across the industry.

ABA’s advocacy team is actively working to raise the profile of the motorcoach and group travel industry in Washington, ensuring policymakers understand its essential role in the nation’s transportation network and economy. With a strengthened bench and clear strategic focus, ABA is well-positioned to drive forward the industry’s priorities and deliver results for its members.
