BEWARE: ABA Marketplace Scams

We want to bring to your immediate attention a concerning issue that has arisen in the last few days. There has been an increasing number of scam calls targeting our members and Marketplace registrants regarding hotel reservations.

Important Details:

Scam Activity: The most prolific scam call is coming from 800-878-0113 from an individual named "Joseph." This caller is falsely claiming to offer an early bird rate for hotel stays in Philadelphia.

Our Process: ABA will be opening up hotel reservations on August 9, and we are not using any third-party affiliate to call you about those reservations, secure "special" low rates, or other offers. These calls are scams.

Action Steps

Do Not Engage: If you receive such a call from 800-878-0113 or other unfamiliar number, we suggest blocking the number to remove further contact from the scammer.

Official Reservations: The only way to secure your hotel reservations is through ABA and the Marketplace website. Information on how to make reservations will be posted on August 9, and we will send out a notice to all current registered attendees with information on how to secure your hotel booking.

ABA is committed to ensuring your safety and the security of your information. Please remain vigilant and do not engage with these fraudulent calls. If you have any questions or need further assistance, do not hesitate to contact us directly at (800) 283-2877.

ABA Joins Association Community to Raise Money for Shoes for Washington D.C.’s Homeless Children

Share

ABA has joined a number of D.C.-based associations to help raise awareness and money for Soles4theDistrict. An organization that provides new sneakers to homeless children throughout the District for school. We have pledge raising $10,000 during this campaign. If you would like to help us with our fundraising, click here.

About Soles4theDistrict

There are 1.5 million children across the country who are experiencing homelessness, and 6,500 right here in DC Public Schools. While many organizations focus on the critical needs of food and shelter, school officials share that shoes are essential for students to succeed. Through its 4EveryKid program, Soles4Souls aims to provide new shoes each year to these students. Something as simple as a new pair of shoes means opportunity for these kids: it raises their confidence, improves their school performance and attendance, and allows them to stay active through sports and extracurricular activities.

Soles4theDistrict is bringing the DC Association community together for one simple goal – raise $130,000 to ensure that all kids facing housing instability and homelessness in DCPS will have a new pair of athletic shoes at the start of the school year (a pair of shoes costs about $20 per pair).

The campaign kicked off in June and will culminate with a 4EveryKid event at a DC school in September, where you will be able to see your impact in action as we provide new shoes to all students at that school.
