California Bus Association Selects McDonald Association Management Company as New Association Management Partner
The Board of Directors of the California Bus Association (CBA) has selected McDonald Association Management Company (McDonaldAMC) to provide full‑service association management for its members. The decision follows an extensive search for a strategic partner to help guide CBA’s next chapter.
“We chose McDonaldAMC because of their proven track record, their commitment to partnership, and their deep understanding of how to strengthen member‑driven organizations,” said Michael Giddens, President of the California Bus Association. “Their values—integrity, transparency, responsiveness, and collaboration—align perfectly with CBA’s mission.”
Founded in 2004, McDonaldAMC has supported organizations across healthcare, professional services, technical and scientific fields, and insurance. As a family‑owned firm, they bring a personalized, relationship‑centered approach to association leadership.
CBA’s new Executive Director will be Cheryl Marcell, CAE, who has more than 20 years of executive‑level leadership experience in associations and nonprofit organizations. Her background includes serving as President and CEO of the California State Railroad Museum Foundation and holding senior roles with Airports Council International and multiple trade associations.
Chanel Barkley will serve as CBA’s annual conference planner and member services manager. She brings extensive experience in planning complex conferences, coordinating speakers and abstracts, managing exhibitors and sponsors, and overseeing on‑site logistics, along with strong marketing and communications expertise. “We are delighted to be chosen to work with CBA and are excited about this new partnership,” said Sean McDonald, Executive Vice President of McDonaldAMC. “Our business model is built on service, accountability, and results. We look forward to working closely with the Board and members to support CBA’s continued success.”
