Secretary Buttigieg, the Motorcoach Industry Invites You to Hop on Board
The American Bus Association (ABA) and its private motorcoach members invite Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to hop on a bus while he is getting to know his new city and surrounding areas.
“The DC-Maryland-Virginia corridor has amazing sites and ABA members stand ready to transport Secretary Buttigieg to them whether it is to Arlington Cemetery or Mount Vernon in Virginia; Inner Harbor or National Harbor in Maryland; or take a Monument Tour at Night in Washington, D.C.,” said Peter Pantuso, president & CEO of ABA. “The industry would love to share its story with the Secretary and show him how we can help with his green, transformative transportation agenda. Motorcoaches are the greenest form of transportation, by taking approximately 50 cars off the road with each trip. Motorcoaches also offer the most affordable and accessible way to travel because they are not tied to hubs like other forms of transportation. For tourists, commuters, and anyone new to the city – it’s the best way to get around and get to know this town, and we hope the Secretary will take us up on our offer.”
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the private motorcoach industry carried nearly 600 million passengers annually and generated $15 billion for the American economy. Today, the industry has been left to suffer the effects of the pandemic with many of the 3,000 small family owned businesses shutting their doors for good and furloughing more than 80,000 Americans. As the new Biden Administration looks to create transformative, accessible multi-modal transportation options for Americans, the private motorcoach industry is ready to lead the way.
