Rural Area Circulars and Grant Guidance Update

On April 4, 2024, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announced a proposed Rural Areas Formula Grant Programs Guidance Proposed Circular. This critical update aims to streamline and consolidate existing program guidance related to the Bus and Bus Facilities Formula Program (rural component) and the Rural Area Formula Grants Program, including the 5311(f) grant program. This proposed circular enhances efficiency and clarity for rural transit systems, ensuring they receive the support and resources needed for optimal operation.

The FTA seeks feedback from stakeholders and interested parties to refine and perfect this proposed circular. Your insights and comments are crucial to shaping the final guidance, making it more effective for rural transit initiatives.
