Motorcoach Companies Helping Communities Devastated by Hurricane Helene

Hurricane Helene has left widespread destruction, impacting thousands of families and communities along the Atlantic Coast. Now, more than ever, our efforts can make a difference. Several motorcoach companies are stepping up to provide essential support, supplies, and aid to help these communities recover. Join us in this relief effort by donating or volunteering.

How You Can Help

You can get involved in the following ways:

  • Monetary Donations: Financial contributions go directly toward providing essentials like food, water, and shelter for those affected. You can donate directly to local relief organizations.
  • Supply Donations: Essential items like bottled water, canned goods, hygiene products, blankets, and first aid supplies are urgently needed. Find local drop-off points where you can bring these much-needed supplies.
  • Volunteer: Consider volunteering your time to help distribute supplies or assist with rebuilding efforts. Local organizations and motorcoach companies are organizing efforts to transport volunteers and supplies to the affected areas.

The American Bus Association (ABA), the leading voice for North America’s motorcoach, charter bus, group travel, and tourism industries, is pleased to announce the hiring of Lewis Myers as Director of Research, Policy, and Impact. Lewis joins ABA with over a decade of legislative experience on Capitol Hill, having worked for senior U.S. House and Senate members and as the Founder and Managing Director of the Congressional Golf Association.

“Lewis is a bipartisan leader at the forefront of policy advocacy, legislative affairs, coalition building, and research-driven insights,” said Fred Ferguson, President and CEO of the American Bus Association and the American Bus Association Foundation. “His ability to integrate strategic marketing and communications into campaign and stakeholder initiatives is critical to modern advocacy. Lewis’s expertise will elevate ABA’s impact and advance our mission of connecting people with places.”

In his role, Lewis will focus on expanding the impact and reach of the ABA Foundation, ABA’s philanthropic arm. He will lead the Foundation’s research initiatives, secure funding through grants, sponsorships, and donations, and communicate the Foundation’s impact across media channels and among key stakeholders. Additionally, Lewis will work closely with the ABA Government Relations team to support the organization’s policy agenda through targeted outreach, educational briefings, and strategic advocacy campaigns.

“Joining the ABA team is a tremendous honor. With a committed staff and track record of achievement, I eagerly anticipate contributing to the expansion of the organization and its philanthropic influence,” says Myers. “By leveraging existing relationships and cultivating new channels of exposure, funding, and stakeholder engagement, I’m excited to bring my extensive experience to this role. Together, we will further the growth of the ABA Foundation, enhancing our impact through strategic initiatives and robust communication across various platforms.”

Lewis holds an MBA from Hampton University, where he developed his expertise in strategic communications, marketing, and advocacy campaign execution. As the Founder and Managing Director of the Congressional Golf Association, he brought together bipartisan leaders and staff in the public and private sectors, building meaningful relationships and earning media coverage on both local and national levels.
