Even in the heart of winter, Reno Tahoe offers many opportunities for visitors to explore, get creative, or simply relax.

Warm up with a little friendly competition and dozens of classic pinball and arcade games at Playfield 76 and Press Start or stay cozy in one of the many resort casinos. All three Marketplace host hotels offer the gaming Reno is known for: Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, Peppermill Resort Spa Casino, and the Nugget in nearby Sparks.

For art enthusiasts, the Nevada Museum of Art—Nevada’s only accredited art museum—displays a diverse selection of historical and contemporary pieces. In 2026, travelers can explore the museum’s recent $60 million expansion, equipped with larger gallery spaces, a new research library, enhanced educational programs, and more. History buffs will enjoy strolling through history at the National Automobile Museum, home to an expansive collection of rare and historic vehicles.

Take a selfie or group photo under Reno’s iconic Reno Arch.

Public art installations add color and creativity to Reno’s urban landscape.

For the best of Reno culture, head to MidTown, where you can enjoy the charm of its farm-to-table restaurants, hip cafés, craft breweries, bars, and thrift and boutique shopping.

The Nevada Museum of Art is located at 160 West Liberty Street in downtown Reno and offers guided tours, a café, gift shop, accessibility, and more.

Follow the pedestrian walkway along the Truckee River that flows through the middle of downtown Reno.

For bites, Centro Reno serves elevated takes on classics, including the Centro bruschetta with smoked salmon, grilled short rib with shiso chimichurri, and more. Casual eats can be found at Dopo Pizza & Pasta, where fresh pies collide with crafty cocktails and its two locations (in the Riverwalk District and Reno Public Market) make it easy to experience Reno’s trendy dining scene.

You don’t have to be an avid skier to enjoy the beauty of the snow-covered city. Take a free, self-guided walking art tour to discover the city’s creative touch. Explore the vibrant streets of Neon Line District and the Riverwalk, home to large murals and world-class art installations, such as Space Whale, a life-sized stained glass and steel sculpture of a humpback whale mother and calf (be sure to see it illuminated at night).

For winter sports, and if time permits, take a short 20-minute drive from the eclectic Biggest Little City to North America’s highest concentration of world-class ski resorts. The epic ski and snowboarding trails of Mt. Rose invite experienced pros and bunny-hill loyalists to shred over 1,200 acres of terrain with a base elevation of 8,260 feet.
