FMCSA Seeks Nominations for Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee
Applications must be received by February 23, 2026
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is now accepting nominations for the Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee (MCSAC), a key federal advisory body that provides recommendations on commercial motor vehicle safety policies, regulations, and programs affecting both trucks and buses.
MCSAC plays an important role in advising FMCSA on a wide range of issues, including motor carrier operations, driver qualifications, hours of service, enforcement priorities, and emerging safety challenges. The committee comprises 20 representatives from across the safety and transportation spectrum, including industry, labor, safety advocacy groups, law enforcement, and state and local government. FMCSA relies on this balanced input to help ensure that safety policies are informed by real-world operational experience.
For the motorcoach industry, a strong representation of passenger vehicles on MCSAC is essential. Having experienced motorcoach voices at the table helps ensure that the unique operational, safety, and passenger considerations of bus and motorcoach transportation are fully reflected in federal safety discussions and policy recommendations.
FMCSA encourages nominations from individuals with relevant professional experience, demonstrated expertise, and a strong interest in advancing commercial motor vehicle safety. Nominations must be received by February 23 and should include a cover letter, a resume or curriculum vitae, and a description of the nominee’s qualifications and interest in serving on the committee. Additional submission requirements are outlined in the official Federal Register notice.
Nominations may be submitted by email to [email protected]. ABA encourages qualified members and industry stakeholders to consider applying for this opportunity or to share it with individuals who can effectively represent passenger transportation interests and contribute to FMCSA’s safety mission.
