Destination Gettysburg Launches Merry Markets Holiday Shopping Trail
Festive trail includes unique shops, boutiques and markets across Adams County
Destination Gettysburg is unwrapping a new way to celebrate the season with the launch of the Gettysburg Merry Markets, a festive holiday shopping trail that spotlights local businesses and inspires residents and visitors to shop small throughout Adams County.
The Merry Markets trail, which runs from Nov. 22 through Jan. 4, brings together an array of independently owned shops, boutiques, orchards, artisan markets, and specialty stores. From classic holiday décor and handcrafted goods to gourmet treats and uniquely Gettysburg gifts, the trail showcases the breadth of local creativity and craftsmanship that defines the region.
Shoppers can sign up now for the free Merry Markets digital passport at GettysburgMerryMarkets.com. Once registered, participants can browse the list of locations, plan their visits, and begin collecting points as soon as the trail officially opens. At each participating business, visitors enter that shop’s unique code through the passport to receive credit for their stop. The more check-ins completed, the more points earned toward festive prizes, including ornaments, mugs, and pajama pants. Many locations are also offering passport-exclusive discounts.
Destination Gettysburg President and CEO Karl Pietrzak said the trail is meant to promote both the spirit of the season and the strength of the local economy.
“Gettysburg Merry Markets offers a fun and festive way to find the perfect gifts for your loved ones,” Pietrzak said. “We created this new trail as a way to highlight the incredible businesses across Adams County and encourage folks to shop locally.”
The Merry Markets lineup includes a vibrant mix of beloved community staples and specialty retailers such as A Lit’le Irish Too, Battlefield Harley-Davidson, Boyer’s Nursery & Orchards, The Christmas Haus, Codori’s House of Gifts, The Crystal Wand, Dirty Billy’s Hats, Gettysburg Polish Pottery, Hollabaugh Bros. Fruit Farm & Market, Lark Gifts, Scott & Co. Fine Jewelers, Sweet Repeat Records, Thomason’s Herb Farm, The Outlet Shoppes at Gettysburg and many more.
This is Destination Gettysburg’s second limited-time trail, following the successful launch of the Adams County Sweet Stroll earlier this year. Held from July 1 to Sept. 1, the Sweet Stroll attracted more than 1,000 participants from 19 states and generated 912 total business check-ins. Building on that momentum, Merry Markets is expected to draw an even broader seasonal audience while strengthening community ties and supporting small-business owners during the critical holiday shopping period.
Merry Markets joins Destination Gettysburg’s growing suite of digital passport experiences, including the Adams County Pour Tour, the Adams County Crop Hop, and the Gettysburg Black History Trail. Visitors can explore these and other curated experiences at DestinationGettysburg.com/tours-trails.
Destination Gettysburg, the official destination marketing organization of Adams County, Pa., promotes the region as a premier travel destination by sharing its history, elevating local businesses, and creating meaningful visitor experiences that benefit the entire community.
