Motorcoach Companies Helping Communities Devastated by Hurricane Helene

Hurricane Helene has left widespread destruction, impacting thousands of families and communities along the Atlantic Coast. Now, more than ever, our efforts can make a difference. Several motorcoach companies are stepping up to provide essential support, supplies, and aid to help these communities recover. Join us in this relief effort by donating or volunteering.

How You Can Help

You can get involved in the following ways:

  • Monetary Donations: Financial contributions go directly toward providing essentials like food, water, and shelter for those affected. You can donate directly to local relief organizations.
  • Supply Donations: Essential items like bottled water, canned goods, hygiene products, blankets, and first aid supplies are urgently needed. Find local drop-off points where you can bring these much-needed supplies.
  • Volunteer: Consider volunteering your time to help distribute supplies or assist with rebuilding efforts. Local organizations and motorcoach companies are organizing efforts to transport volunteers and supplies to the affected areas.

Evan Anderson, Chief Operations Officer, Anderson Coach & Travel

Evan Anderson, Vice President and Chief Operations Officer at Anderson Coach & Travel, has announced an exciting new partnership with Initek Consulting, a technology consulting firm based in San Diego. Initek specializes in telematics and operations software tailored to the motorcoach industry, and their collaboration with Anderson Coach & Travel signals a significant step forward in advancing bus operations through real-time data and automation.

Anderson, who is on ABA’s Next Era Leadership Council’s Leadership Committee, will be joining Initek as a Strategic Advisor.

With a longstanding commitment to operational efficiency at his family’s company, Anderson has been using Initek’s software since early 2023. “Their products have modernized our internal processes,” he stated, underscoring the transformative impact the tools have had on the company’s workflows. Through his new role as a Strategic Advisor with Initek, Anderson is now taking on an industry-wide focus, aiming to extend the benefits of these technological advances to other motorcoach operators. “It’s about helping the entire industry harness the power of real-time data,” Anderson said. He envisions an industry where companies can bridge the gap between expected outcomes and real-time operations, ultimately improving safety and efficiency.

Ben O’Day, CEO of Initek, is equally enthusiastic. Over the past six years, Initek has been a leading innovator in bus software integration, delivering insights to operators across the U.S. and Canada. “Evan has established himself as a leading technology advocate for the bus industry. We are excited to bring together our technology expertise and Evan’s in-depth knowledge of the bus business to more effectively meet the needs of our customers,” O’Day stated.

Initek’s offerings include automated alerts and the Vehicle Status Manager, two key tools that have redefined communication and coordination within Anderson’s team. The automated alerts notify drivers and passengers of trip details in real-time, while the Vehicle Status Manager enables dispatchers, mechanics, and cleaning crews to monitor the status of each fleet vehicle. This shift has allowed Anderson to eliminate outdated paper-based communication systems, significantly enhancing operational agility.

Reflecting on the partnership, Anderson emphasized its broader implications. “This partnership is my way of contributing back to an industry that has given so much to my family’s business,” he said. “With technology, we can bring the motorcoach industry into the future, where seamless communication and real-time data ensure every ride is safe, efficient, and memorable.”

This partnership represents a milestone for Anderson and Initek as they work together to elevate standards across the motorcoach industry and demonstrate the transformative power of technology.
