American Bus Association Foundation Releases Q4 2024 Motorcoach Builders Results
2024 sales of new motorcoaches are up 20% over the previous year

The American Bus Association (ABA), the leading voice in North America’s motorcoach, charter bus, group travel and tourism industries, today announced the Fourth Quarter 2024 Motorcoach Builders Survey. The survey, which is produced by the ABA’s research arm, the American Bus Association Foundation, produces the report each quarter with data collected from surveys of the major motorcoach manufacturers that sell vehicles in the United States and Canada.
This quarter the participating manufacturers sold 506 new and 177 pre-owned coaches, for a total of 683 motorcoaches. This compares with 628 during the third quarter of 2023. Sales of new motorcoaches have increased by 8.8% compared to the same quarter in 2023, with the sale of pre-owned motorcoaches 103.4% higher.

“The motorcoach, charter bus, and group travel industries are experiencing strong growth, with new motorcoach sales rising 20% year over year,” said Fred Ferguson, President and CEO of the American Bus Association and the American Bus Association Foundation. “This surge reflects the increasing demand for safe, efficient, and sustainable group travel options. As our industry continues to expand, we remain committed to connecting people and communities through reliable transportation solutions that drive economic impact nationwide.”
According to the data, Q4 sales show a significant improvement compared with 2019. Q4 data for 2024 show only a 12.7% decrease compared to the same quarter in 2019.

Sales to both private and public entities increased in Q4, increasing by 31.6 and 12.9%, respectively.

Evaluating total sales in 2024, we see that new sales have increased by 20.0% compared to 2023 and are 45.8% lower than 2019 sales. Pre-owned sales in 2024 are 4.2% lower than 2023 and 88.5% lower than 2019 sales of pre-owned motorcoaches.
