Motorcoach Companies Helping Communities Devastated by Hurricane Helene

Hurricane Helene has left widespread destruction, impacting thousands of families and communities along the Atlantic Coast. Now, more than ever, our efforts can make a difference. Several motorcoach companies are stepping up to provide essential support, supplies, and aid to help these communities recover. Join us in this relief effort by donating or volunteering.

How You Can Help

You can get involved in the following ways:

  • Monetary Donations: Financial contributions go directly toward providing essentials like food, water, and shelter for those affected. You can donate directly to local relief organizations.
  • Supply Donations: Essential items like bottled water, canned goods, hygiene products, blankets, and first aid supplies are urgently needed. Find local drop-off points where you can bring these much-needed supplies.
  • Volunteer: Consider volunteering your time to help distribute supplies or assist with rebuilding efforts. Local organizations and motorcoach companies are organizing efforts to transport volunteers and supplies to the affected areas.

The Association proudly welcomes Fred Ferguson as its new President and CEO, ushering in a new era of leadership and strategic vision.

Washington, D.C., July 22, 2024 — The American Bus Association (ABA) is proud to announce the appointment of Fred Ferguson as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective July 29, 2024. Ferguson brings over 15 years of extensive experience in public policy, strategic communications, and leadership within the government, non-profit, and private sectors.

Fred Ferguson joins ABA following his notable tenure at Vista Outdoor Inc. (NYSE: VSTO), where he was Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications. At Vista Outdoor, Ferguson led state and federal lobbying, industry relations, and corporate communications and chaired the Vista Outdoor Foundation. He has been recognized multiple times as a Top Lobbyist and CSR Professional and has successfully navigated complex communications strategies for significant M&A transactions totaling over $3 billion. His experience includes testifying before Congress and executive branch committees on seven occasions and leading a successful lobbying campaign resulting in a multi-year, $42 million business opportunity.

In his new role, Ferguson will lead ABA into its next era, focusing on uniting diverse stakeholders to drive shared causes and improved outcomes. He is committed to advocating for the mobility industry, connecting the industry, and supporting the community through the ABA Foundation, workforce development, and industry councils.

Additionally, Ferguson will serve as President of the National Bus Traffic Association. He will also serve as President of the ABA Foundation and will work to expand scholarships, research, and continuing education for the motorcoach and tour industries.

Outgoing CEO Peter Pantuso expressed his confidence in Ferguson’s leadership: “I am thrilled to hand over the reins to Fred Ferguson. His vast experience and proven track record in public policy and strategic communications ensure that ABA is in skillful hands.”

“As we move forward and into this new era for travel and transportation,” said Terry Fischer, Chair of ABA’s Board of Directors, “it’s imperative that our members’ voices be heard at all levels of government. Fred’s years of experience in advocacy and communications make him the perfect leader to navigate these new roads ahead.”

Ferguson is equally enthusiastic about his new role at ABA. “ABA sits at the crossroads of so many dynamic businesses and industries,” said Ferguson. “I’m most excited about bringing together this diverse coalition to connect more people with more places. My top priority is getting to know the ABA staff and our membership. I plan to listen and learn so that we can seamlessly execute during the transition while beginning the process of building our long-term strategic plan and expanding our Association’s value proposition for current and new members alike.”

Ferguson added, “One of the common threads in high-performing teams, businesses, and industries is a strong culture. Culture is the invisible rulebook that guides how we work, act, and engage with one another. I hope to continue the Association’s culture of service to its members and build upon their excitement, energy, and passion. There is so much work to do, and an engaged and vibrant culture will help us attract and retain the talent and resources we need to tell our dynamic story and expand our impact.”
