ABA Applauds Senators Proposal to Enable DMOs Access to SBA PPP Funds

Share

The American Bus Association (ABA) – the industry leader advancing North American motorcoach travel and tourism – applauded Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Tim Scott (R-S.C.) for their proposal to allow destination marketing organizations (DMO) to have access to SBA paycheck protection program loans.

When Congress passed the CARES Act, DMOs were left out because of their nonprofit or quasi-government designation.

In a statement on the proposal, ABA President & CEO Peter Pantuso said:

“We appreciate the Senators taking action to help the DMO community. They are the marketing arm of any town, city or state and without funding they can't help bring tourism back to these areas that have been devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Tourism employs millions of people around the country, without tourism we can't get the American economy back up and running and DMOs are critical to that happening.”
